Welcome to O’Brien Irish Dance Academy. We are the only truly Irish owned and instructed Irish Dance School in Tennessee. Owner Aoibheann O’Brien Barbera, TCRG, hails from Co. Meath, Ireland and has literally danced her way around the world! From the age of 3 years old she studied under the prestigious Marie Duffy School of Irish Dance in Dublin where she won numerous regional, All Ireland, Great Britain and World Championship medals for solo dancing and three world titles in céilí and figure dancing. She danced professionally for 12 years, performing all over the world to sold out audiences with the shows Michael Flatley’s Lord of the Dance where she performed a leading role, Feet of Flames and was part of the original cast of Riverdance as its youngest member in 1994.
Aoibheann loves passing on the Irish Culture and the dance that she has studied for over 30 years, to the people of Middle Tennessee in O'Brien Irish Dance Academys new studio. She teaches to all ages and all levels. O’Brien Irish Dance Academy teaches students in three different areas of Irish Dance - Performance, Exercise and Competition, for the dancer that wants to take it to the next level. This involves dedication, passion and an eagerness to learn. What our students will gain from the experience of being an O’Brien Irish Dance Academy Dancer is priceless – as both and dancer and an individual. There is virtually no limit to what our students can experience, accomplish and learn as a part of O’Brien Irish Dance Academy if they set their mind to it.
We currently offer classes that are convenient to the Spring Hill, Thompson's Station, Leiper's Fork, Arrington, Columbia, Franklin, Brentwood, Nolensville and Nashville areas.
